How is gastroparesis treated?

While gastroparesis cannot be cured, there are several treatment options that may improve symptoms. Depending on the severity of the condition, treatment can range from a change in diet through to surgical interventions. Before embarking on treatment, it is critical that a thorough health assessment is undertaken to exclude other possible medical conditions. These conditions may cause similar symptoms but may require different treatments.

A gastroparesis treatment plan may involve a combination of the approaches listed below, and will be a joint decision between you, your physician, and any specialists who are working with you (e.g., gastroenterologist, dietician, psychologist).
