Diabetic

Approximately 29% of individuals with gastroparesis also have diabetes. The elevated blood glucose levels associated with diabetes can damage the nerves that control the stomach and interfere with normal gastric emptying. In turn, gastroparesis can also make blood glucose levels more unpredictable and difficult to control. One of the primary treatment goals for diabetic gastroparesis is to improve control of blood glucose levels.
