ComorbidityWhile the conditions listed above are some of the most common diagnoses to occur alongside gastroparesis, there are a number of other conditions that are also associated with a delay in gastric emptying. In particular, metabolic or endocrine disorders (e.g., hypothyroidism), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), as well as anorexia nervosa and bulimia may be correlated with the onset of gastroparesis. As the symptoms of gastroparesis become more severe, patients also increasingly report feelings of anxiety and depression. |
