Post-surgical

Damage to the vagus nerve during surgery, or intentional removal of the vagus nerve, is the third most common cause of gastroparesis, and is responsible for approximately 13% of cases. Injury may occur during operations for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), bariatric surgery, peptic ulcers, heart or lung transplants.
